Environmental Projects
Launched kindergarten education for the community.
Introduced MQA-approved courses to provide tertiary education locally.
Donated a building to establish a modern health center in Bodufolhudhoo.
Upgraded the health center by providing a fully equipped laboratory, labor room, and wards with support from Japan's GGP, in collaboration with the local council.
Founded in 2006, the Association for Awareness, Recreational and Unity (AARU) began its journey 19 years ago with a steadfast vision to cultivate a sustainable and harmonious community. Driven by the dream of safeguarding and elevating the community, AARU is committed to providing its people with the best opportunities to contribute positively to societal betterment. The strength of AARU lies in its people—members and community partners who are the backbone of our organization, fueling our initiatives and driving positive change. With a proud and successful history, AARU has established a reputation for impactful projects and initiatives, making significant strides in education, health, environmental protection, and community engagement. Our ongoing commitment is to remain at the forefront of community service, ensuring that AARU is synonymous with quality and dedication, as we aspire to be the first choice for serving the needs of our people.
Health Infrastructure Development
Initiated the first No Plastic Reef project, in collaboration with the women's development committee.
Conducted an annual cleaning project in partnership with the women's development committee.
Completed a project to protect beach trees and restore bird habitats, collaborating with GEF SGP, UNDP, the women's development committee, and the council.
Sustainability Efforts
Led a three-year planting project named "HUSHIYAA," in partnership with the council.
Community Engagement
Organized several football and volleyball tournaments in collaboration with the council.
"Promoting sustainability through awareness, recreation, and unity."
